Fat Loss & Sustainability

Achieving fat loss can be a challenging process but it does not need to be extremely difficult.

Drastically cutting calories or restricting food groups can lead to hunger, decrease in energy levels, it can effect sleep and overall make the process unsustainable.

The first and most important question I will ask my clients as they enter the assessment room is "how do you feel?". If they feel great and measurements are improving, fantastic. But if a person is feeling poorly even though their measurements are good then we still have an issue, why?

Well, while losing fat is the aim, if a person is struggling to do so in the early stages the likelihood of that person continuing to lose fat and maintain fat loss into the future is very low.

How many times have you lost fat but put it all back on and more?

You do not need to be very hungry to lose fat and you do not need to restrict food groups.

How can you make this process easier?

When it comes to fat loss you may have heard the words "calorie deficit" get mentioned a lot.

Yes, to lose fat you need to be in a calorie deficit but the smaller the deficit is, the easier, the more enjoyable and the more sustainable the process is.

To sum up, eat as much food as possible while you still lose fat, the slower you lose fat the easier it will be over the long term, be patient.

I'm going to leave you with 3 tips to help you with your fat loss journey:

1. Track your calories using MyFitnessPal. You will see exactly how much calories you are consuming and you will learn the value of foods.

2. Fill up on vegetables. Vegetables are not only healthy but are low in calories and will keep you fuller for longer.

3. Prepare more of your food at home to stay in more control of what food you are consuming.
